Strawberry Shortcake

Here's our own little Strawberry Shortcake at Wards Berry Farm last Saturday. As you can see from her shirt, Elise LOVES the strawberries.

Summer Fun

We had a great weekend here at home. We went to the beach on Saturday, one of Elise's favorite activities and then Kurt and I joined some friends down at Long Wharf for what was supposed to be a cruise through the Harbor Islands - instead it was a fun two hours on board a boat tied to the wharf because the weather was not cooperating. No matter, we had a great time catching up with Jennifer and Melanie and Meagan, among others.

Wedding in Canada

Elise's first trip out of the States for Sara Maud and Robert's wedding over the weekend of June 14 at Auberge Val Carroll, Harrington, Quebec. It was an amazing weekend and Elise made many new friends and Kurt and I got to catch up with some old friends. The wedding was perfect and Elise was an angel (with special thanks going out to Dr. Art, who helped entertain her). We can't wait for our next visit to Montreal.

Kurt's birthday

Happy Birthday to you!

Some recent activity

May was a busy month for us and I thought I would post some images from our visit to Utah.

Day one - a brand new blog

I have finally succumbed to peer pressure and decided to create a blog so that those of you who do not live next door to us can read and see what Kurt, Elise, Hiro, and I are up to these days. I make no promises about how regularly this blog is updated, so just keep checking back.
Here are some recent pictures of Elise in her pjs and cape (courtesy of my mom), at the beach, in her Finnish dress (courtesy of Kurt's mom), and getting ready for swimming lessons (which she loves). She is talking up a storm and enjoys saying funny things - or at least things that amuse me and Kurt. She loves her books and the gold teddy bear that our neighbor, Felix gave her, and she always wants me to change his diaper. We are going to work on potty training this summer so that should be fun. Some of her favorite books are Yummy Yucky, Where the Wild Things Are, Goodnight Gorilla, Runaway Bunny, Goodnight Moon, and Dinosaurs Roar.
Elise really enjoys watching clips of Sesame Street on-line, usually with Kurt. Thanks to Aunt Julie we now own an Elmo video so she wants to watch that all the time too. We don't want to get into too much product placement around home, though she does have an Elmo kite she got at Easter from Bob's Aunt Dottie, which she loves to fly especially at the beach. She is less interested in the baby massage video now so she hasn't seen much of baby Peter lately, though she still likes to name things Peter. In the morning she likes to watch Curious George or Clifford the Big Red Dog while she is getting dressed and brushing her teeth. So far she is good about turning them off when we need to go - we'll see how long that lasts. She seems to be thriving at her daycare and enjoys her friends Edie, Olivia, Megan, Owen, Ryan, Madeline, and Katie.
Kurt spends a fair amount of time with Elise at our library and the library in the next town over. She loves the playground, especially the slide and the library has a statue of Doby the House Elf from Harry Potter that she likes to visit - it is pretty cute to hear her say Doby. Kurt and I constantly surprized at how much she says and that we can understand most of it.
We have been traveling a bit in the past couple of months. We went to visit Linda, James and baby Ethan in Connecticut back in April and really enjoyed seeing how Ethan has grown. Elise was funny about being scared of him, as much as she likes pointing out babies, she doesn't necessarily like being touched by them. Then last month Kurt and Elise met me out in Utah after the travel program I led for work in Los Angeles. I will post more pictures of that trip another time, but we had a great time visiting my mom, Julie, Kaelin, Connor, and James.
