With all this wet weather we have had here in Boston, Elise's curls are really well defined. I love how much they remind me of my Mom (who I hope may be coming out for a visit later this month). Elise had her annual visit to Dr. Polcari (who we love) in Norwell and everything looks great. She weighs in at 33 lbs (about the 70th percentile) and 37.5 inches tall (about 50th percentile). As we suspected the rash she has had for about two weeks appears to be heat related (if you can believe that - any of you in New England as there haven't been that many days above 80). Apparently after 2 they stop with head circumference measurements and start with blood pressure (84/56 for whatever that is worth). We don't have any more inoculations for a while, but she still had to get blood work done for a lead test. It was a much better visit than last year, where she cried when the doctor came in. She was hardly even phased when they pricked her finger for the blood work. Of course she knew we had promised her a lolly pop. Along with her visit to the doctor today, yesterday we went to her dentist and she had her first cleaning. Everything looks good and she did a great job there too. It helped that at both offices, the nurses were really terrific and immediately put her at ease. In other news, the potty training is actually going pretty well. I feel like we turned a big corner about a week ago and while we have a long way to go, Elise is doing so much better about saying when she needs to go, even if it more than just needing to pee (she will often just get her potty and take it into her room when she needs to go). We haven't really worked too much on public bathrooms, but at least at home we are going through many fewer pull-ups and I have hopes that by the time she goes to pre-school after Labor Day that she will be pretty far along. It really helps knowing that we won't need to continue spending so much a month on diapers/pull ups, but once we get to these milestones it is increasingly sad to see how quickly the time goes and while it is so much fun to see her growing and changing I can't help thinking about how much fun babies are too. Perhaps this feeling is heightened as my manager at work just returned from maternity leave and another colleague is expecting in January.
