After a refreshing sleep-in at Linda's folks we got up, had breakfast and then went to High Point where we visited the High Point Museum and learned about manufacturing in the area - hence the school bus. It was a quality small history museum with exhibits on furniture manufacture, which is what High Point is known for. We were also able to enjoy a Quaker wedding reinactment and learn a little more about eighteenth and nineteenth-century life in North Carolina with some great docents in period dress (they actually did a great job talking about wedding rituals in the early 19th century). The fully functioning blacksmith shop was also very cool. We had a nice picnic on the grounds of the museum and then Linda's mom heard there was a nice park just down the road so we ended up at High Point City Park, which was awesome. It was a park on a lake and there were boat rides, merry-go-round rides, and little train rides, not to mention a playground. There was also a large wate park but we didn't get over that way. The kids exhausted themselves, but after a brief nap in the car on the way home they were ready for some swimming in the kiddie pool and gardening in the garden. Elise and I enjoyed playing gardner and helping Linda's folks pick beans.
